Back in 2010, I posted an article about how to come up with new story ideas (read archive here) and managed to generate my own story: what would happen if your dryer really was a portal to another time or place? And what if it decided to take more than the occasional sock?
I wrote the story during the summer of 2011 and it found a home today at Darker, a new online magazine, edited by Robert MacAnthony.
Check it out here when you get a chance and let me know what you think.
Update 5/23/12, the archive has been taken down…don’t know if it will go back up…Sorry 🙁

Hope it’s not too late to post. Finally got a chance to read your story. Liked it a lot. Very cool. The magazine is great too. All the stories made me think about them long after I read them. How fun to get in on the ground floor of something like that.
Thanks for taking a look everyone, and of course Marianna, thank you for the suggestion!
OMG I remember that post about the dryer you did! I’m the one that commented about losing my socks and encouraged you to write that story. Do I get credit for suggesting it?
I was wondering how it was going to end right up until the end. You never knew what she would find when that dryer stopped. It was fun to see such a formal and uptight woman slowly lose it. But I’m weird that way 🙂
I hated it. No just kidding. It was a fun read. Think the dryer should have spit bones out at Ms. Schmidt in the end though. Bwahaha.
Hey, I liked it. Good little details make you feel like you’re there. Creepy too, but not gory. Congrats on the pub.
